Community Guidelines

Effective date: 06/26/2026

ToldU is a place to share interpersonal conflicts, get an AI perspective, and let the community weigh in. For it to stay useful and safe, everyone follows these rules. They are part of our Terms of Service. Breaking them can get your content removed and your account suspended or banned.

Apple and Google require apps with user-generated content to enforce rules like these and to give users tools to report and block. We take that seriously.

The golden rule: protect other people's identities

When you describe a conflict, you're usually describing real people who never agreed to be on ToldU. Respect them:

  • Use labels, not names. Describe people as "A" and "B" (or by role — "my coworker", "my sister"). The app is built around this.
  • No identifying information about a non-consenting person: real names, photos, usernames, phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, schools, or any detail that would let someone recognize them.
  • No private content of others — screenshots of private messages, emails, or photos that identify someone.

This isn't just a courtesy. Posting false, reputation-harming, or privately identifying content about a real person can be defamation or a privacy violation — and in Korea, defamation law can apply even to true statements that harm someone's reputation. Protect yourself by keeping it anonymous.

Don't post

  • Harassment & bullying — targeting, demeaning, or inciting pile-ons against a person.
  • Hate speech — attacks or slurs based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or similar characteristics.
  • Threats & violence — threatening harm or encouraging violence against anyone.
  • Sexual content involving minors — zero tolerance. Any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor is removed immediately and reported to the authorities (e.g. NCMEC in the US) and the relevant Korean authority. Accounts are permanently banned.
  • Adult sexual content — explicit pornographic material.
  • Self-harm & suicide promotion — content encouraging self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders. (If you're struggling, please reach out to a local crisis line or someone you trust — ToldU is not a substitute for help.)
  • Illegal content — anything unlawful, or that facilitates illegal activity.
  • Doxxing & privacy violations — exposing anyone's private or identifying information.
  • Spam & manipulation — repetitive junk, scams, fake engagement, or trying to game votes, trending, or the AI.
  • Impersonation — pretending to be someone else or another organization.
  • Intellectual-property infringement — posting content you don't have the rights to.

Voting and commenting in good faith

  • Vote based on your honest read of the case, not who posted it.
  • Keep comments constructive. Disagreement is fine; cruelty, harassment, and pile-ons are not.
  • Don't use comments to identify or harass the people described in a case.

Reporting content

If you see something that breaks these rules, report it:

  1. Tap the ⋯ / Report control on the post or comment.
  2. Choose a reason and submit.

Reports go to our moderation team. You can also email abuse@toldu.ink with details. We aim to review reports promptly — and urgent safety issues (threats, content involving minors) as a priority.

Blocking users

You can block any user from their profile or a post/comment. Blocking hides their content from you and prevents interaction. Blocking is private — the other person isn't notified.

How we enforce

Depending on severity and history, we may:

  • remove the content;
  • reduce its visibility;
  • issue a warning;
  • temporarily suspend the account;
  • permanently ban the account; and/or
  • report to law enforcement where required (e.g. content involving minors, credible threats).

We try to be fair and proportionate, and we may consider context. Egregious violations — especially anything involving minors or credible threats — result in immediate removal and a ban without warning.

Appeals

If you believe we made a mistake, email abuse@toldu.ink from your account email within 30 days and we'll take another look.
